Introduction
An influential factor in national development is holding scientific and specialized conferences. Conferences help identify existing problems and shortcomings, thus putting forth ways to solve them. They can be regarded as a means to enrich the spirit of research and exploration in the scientific and administrative body of a country, paving the way for group activities and collaborations. One of the main functions of universities and scientific institutions is holding conferences, usually with the cooperation of other organizations.
Khorramshahr University of Marine Science and Technology—the only university in southwestern Iran specialized in marine sciences—is home to the biannual international and national conference entitled Marine Sustainable Development, which examines the capacities of sustainable development in all marine fields. Following the successful execution of the 1st International and 3rd National Conference on Marine Sustainable Development in June 2021, we now have the 2nd International and 4th National Conferences of the series in the works for February 2024.
Goals
Creating an adequate platform for the participation and exchange of views, knowledge and information between instructors, researchers and specialists in the fields of science and industry.
Acquaintance and access to the latest findings and technology in marine sciences
The assessment of developmental capacities in the different fields of marine sciences
Aligning and coordinating researchers and specialists active in universities and the industry in order to expand cooperations and relations between universities, research institutes and industries aiming for the optimal and sustainable use of marine resources

Due to the fact that this conference will take place at Khorramshahr University of Marine Science and Technology, one of Iran’s scientific and research hubs regarding the marine domain, many of the country’s authorities and experts will participate in this event, which in itself is an opportunity for direct deliberation and consultation between instructors, researchers and students with the executives of marine administrations and industries.
