Dear friends and colleagues,
On behalf of , it is a great honour and privilege to invite you to the 16th Congress of the Mediterranean Council for Burns that will be held in Istanbul , Turkey during the 31 March - 3 April 2009, at the Military Museum .
I hope that the participation of the colleagues not only form 17 Mediterranean countries but also other European and Middle east countries will give us a great opportunity to share our experiences and friendship.
The major aim of the congress which is organized every two years is to share the most recent achievements regarding the burn disease, the exchange of different points of views related to problems that several countries encounter and the development of a consensus and joint strategy in an effort to face them. A detailed scientific programme was prepared with the presence of well – known speakers. Free paper sessions will give opportunities to young colleagues to share their experiences
Istanbul was elected for the 16th congress of MBC. I hope you will find more than you expect as being in the European cultural capital of 2010. Yet this "beautiful harmony", which is embedded in the city's foundations and entwined in the branches of its family tree, is not just a pleasant memento from a bygone era. Istanbul retains still its rich cosmopolitan character, sometimes concealing and sometimes revealing the evidence of its unrivalled physical and cultural legacy. The city is a living example of the much sought-after meeting of civilisations – something so desperately missing in the modern world that the search for it seems almost utopian. For more than two thousand years, as if inspired by Aristotle's theory of the four elements, the city has captivated humankind's attention.
