During the last 20 years the biennial European Lead Battery Conference and Exhibition has been the premier focal point in the exchange of information relating to the science, technology, design and manufacture of lead-acid batteries in their many uses.

With their proven track record of successful technical innovation, industry and academia are continuing to produce new and exciting developments in the manufacture of improved lead-acid batteries. New style lead-acid batteries are finding use in state-of-the-art hybrid and electric vehicles, in renewable and smart-energy storage systems and in other applications which will help meet the global need for a more friendly environment.

Meanwhile, improvements in lead-acid batteries for traditional applications such as automotive engine starting, motive and standby power, defence, marine, industrial and consumer products are maintaining and expanding the dominant position of the lead battery system as the most cost-effective means of power storage.

The 12th European Lead Battery Conference and Exhibition (12ELBC) will be held at the Grand Cevahir Hotel and Conference Centre, Istanbul, Turkey on 21-24 September 2010, bringing together delegates from all around the world. The previous Conference and Exhibition - held in Poland in 2008 - was attended by more than 550 delegates from 51 countries. 12ELBC will, hopefully, be just as successful.

The 2½ day event is targeted at battery users, manufacturers, designers, material and equipment suppliers as well as those involved in battery science and technology.

The International Lead Association, organisers of the Conference, are keen to put together a collection of ‘hot topic’ technical papers and presentations relating to the ongoing commercial success of lead-acid batteries.
