Dear colleagues and friends,

The World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery will be holding its Third Scientific Meeting on June 23-26, 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey. The World Society Program Committee will work hard to put together an exciting program. There will be a comprehensive Postgraduate Course on the topic of "The Functionally Single Ventricle" which will be dedicated to the great pioneers of congenital heart surgery, Francis Fontan of France and Guillermo Kreutzer of Argentina. The "Stella Van Praagh Lecture" will be delivered by James Wilkinson from Melbourne, Australia. In addition there will be multiple oral presentations of the best abstracts submitted. Presentations from the Third Scientific Meeting will be considered for publication in the official journal of the World Society, the World Journal for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery.

The World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery was established in 2006 with its members coming from all continents and regions of the world. The Vision of the World Society is that every child born anywhere in the world with a congenital heart defect should have access to appropriate medical and surgical care.

The World Society has held highly successful Scientific Meetings in Washington, USA in May 2007, and at the 5th World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in Cairns, Australia in June 2009.

In 2011 we invite you to attend the Third Scientific Meeting of the World Society in Istanbul, Turkey. Istanbul is the only city in the world which is situated on two continents, extending on both Europe and Asia. It is uniquely surrounded by thousands years of historical and cultural heritage, is not only the geographical meeting point of the continents, but is the true melting pot of cultures and civilizations, both eastern and the western.

The meeting promises to be a great success. Hoping that you will attend we send you our warmest regards.
