Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Welcome to EAPS 2012!
We are delighted to introduce the upcoming 4th Congress of the European Academy of Paediatric Societies to be held in Istanbul on October 5-9, 2012. The Scientific Committee and the members of the organising societies have worked hard to present to you outstanding science in all areas of Paediatrics. We cordially invite you to join us in this exciting congress in this most wonderful setting.
There are 8 State-of-the-Art Sessions in topics as diverse as: Epigenetics, Adolescent Health, Economics & Child Health, Child Physiology, Mental Health in Childhood, Nutrition & Diabetes, Childhood Environment and Genetics, including the prestigious IPRF plenary which brings distinguished scientists to the paediatric community, this year with the topic of Mirror Neurons in Autism and the Molecular Basis of the Master Clock. We will present to you new emerging tools in studying health and disease such as optogenetics, the use of stem cells, but also bring you up-to-date on the role of environment in childhood health and disease and our understanding of the impact of health and disease on economic growth. The 2012 programme spans sessions ranging from investigations at the bench, to advocacy and translation at the bedside, followed by outcome measures of interventions or changes in clinical practice from the newborn to the adolescent.
This meeting is the largest of its kind in Europe and we have made special efforts to make the format attractive for your participation. There will be interactive sessions with topics presented as controversies, where you will be able to express your opinion not only in discussions but with voting systems. There will be hands-on teaching workshops and of course our popular poster sessions and symposia to give you as much exposure as possible to your peers. For the first time the programme will also feature topic related Symposia proposed directly by our members, thus allowing the sharing of experiences in research and clinical care. The programme will be organised in specific tracks and include a specific nursing care oriented track and master classes.
Sharing with EAPS your best ongoing scientific research programmes, through submitted abstracts, will be a major contribution to the originality and success of the scientific programme. We invite you to submit your work and you will be impressed how academic networking can result in thinking outside the box, leading to progress as well as improvements in the future of paediatrics.
We look forward to your participation, particularly your insights, which can be shared during the presentations and discussion periods of all sessions.
See you at the EAPS Congress in Istanbul!
Best wishes,
