Dear Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure, as the President of the World Heart Failure Society (WHFS), to welcome you to World Heart Failure 2012, the third international congress of the WHFS, to be held at Istanbul, Turkey, 29 November-02 December 2012.
Heart failure should no longer be considered a specific problem of developed countries, but, rather, a global disease requiring a global response. In nearly all regions of the world heart failure is on the rise. It is important to establish the prevalence and specific causes of heart failure in different regions of the world, and identify regional preventive measures and therapeutic regimens. Its aims are to fulfil the goals set out above by creating an organisation of doctors, nurses, epidemio-logists, health care authorities and others with an interest in and knowledge of heart failure and its regional implications.
I am excited that, the World Heart Failure Society will have the opportunity to organise its third international congress. World Heart Failure 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey, and am looking forward to meeting you there.
