World Congress in Istanbul...
12th World Congress of Accounting Historians will be held between 20-24 July 2008 in Istanbul, a fascinating city where two continents meet, civilization has deep roots and over 12 million people call their home.
The congress is organized by one of the leading Turkish universities, Marmara University, along with the Association of Accounting and Finance Academicians which has more than six hundred potential academic members in Turkey.
The congress will be held in a city which is home to one of the biggest military museums of the Middle East. Besides books and documents on accounting from the Ottoman Empire, there will be exhibitions about the 200th, 150th and 100th anniversaries of many events to do with accounting at this congress. Also, there will be an exhibition on the Merdiban (Stairs) Method, which was used as the state accounting system for over a thousand years in the Middle East.
The congress takes place in July, which is the best month of the year for Istanbul and Turkey from a touristic point of view. Therefore, as part of the congress, trips to historical places, sightseeing, and shopping in the Grand Bazaar have been included.
We will be honored to present a platform for sharing our knowledge about Accounting History as it is one of the shared wealths of humankind.
