Political Economy of Artificial Intelligence Technology is central in every country’s overall strength and position on the international stage. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a critical technology to retool and reshape the World since it has the ability to speed up decision-making, increase precision, and reduce reaction times. According to Stanford University’s Artificial Intelligence Index Report 2023, AI will be a “crucial component of economic and military power in the near future,” It seems apparent that AI will have huge effects on economies, societies, and the environment. The aim of ICOPEC 2024 which will take place at Beykoz University in Istanbul from 6-7 December 2024 is to foster interdisciplinary discussions and critical analyses for AI to identify its positive and negative power dynamics. ICOPEC 2024 encourages participants to explore different dimensions of AI and its impacts on society, the economy, and the environment. ICOPEC 2024 invites and welcomes all scholars, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to submit their work that enriches perspectives on political economy and broadens the ground for better policy analyses and designs.
