Maritime markets have been growing steadily over the last decade and are expected to continue growing in the next decade as well. Protecting the marine environment whilst exploiting its resources for the sustainable growth of the industry is paramount. The forthcoming 13th International Congress of the International Maritime Association of the Mediterranean to be held in Istanbul will be addressing the challenges associated with marine technologies and will be searching for innovative solutions to the emerging problems. The Congress will be focusing on the key priority themes of the marine technologies – design, construction, operation and decommissioning of ships and offshore installations, modelling, explotation, monitoring and protection of the marine environment and resources – with the aim of progressing towards a more competitive and sustainable marine industry. On behalf of the IMAM 2009 Local Orginizing Committee, we cordially invite your valuable contributions as we explore the challenges and potential of marine technology and transport together.
