THERMAM 2014 "International Conference on Thermophysical and Mechanical Properties of Advanced Materials"

OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE Modern mankind strongly depends on engineering technology. To design and construct plants, machines and apparatus some basic theory is applied. Part of this theory is thermodynamics. To solve for thermodynamic problems four basic equation sets are required: 1) The balance equations (mass, species, momentum, energy, entropy, exergy, chemical reaction mechanism, turbulence models, ...), 2) The constitutive equations (caloric equation of state, thermal equation of state, EOS for mixtures, ... ), 3) Thermophysical properties aka material properties (specific heat capacities, ...) and transport properties (diffusion coefficient, heat conduction coefficient, viscosity, heat transfer coefficient, ...) for gases, liquids, solids, composites and mixtures, and 4) The boundary and initial conditions.
